Mike Day, Ph.D. - Pastor

Mike Day is a Georgia native who grew up in Dekalb and Gwinnett counties. He graduated from Parkview High School and then completed a Bachelor degree in Accounting at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. He earned his Master of Divinity and Ph.D. from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

In 1986, he married his college sweetheart, Leigh Anne. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner who works in Gainesville. They have three children: Erin, Robin and Stephen.

Mike was called to pastor his first church in 1981 while a junior in college. He has served churches in Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana and Georgia.

In 1997, Mike was asked to start a new church in the growing south Hall, north Gwinnett area. In the early years, Celebration Church met at Friendship Elementary School near I-985. In 2002, Celebration moved to the current campus on Thompson Mill Road near Reunion, Deaton Creek and Chateau Elan Subdivisions.

In addition to his responsibilities with Celebration, Mike works with Positive Management Leadership Inc., a leadership development company that motivates and inspires leaders in many of the top Fortune 100 companies.

Whether he is leading his church, preaching a sermon or giving a motivational keynote to business leaders, Mike loves the opportunity to inspire people to live out all God desires them to be.

Malynde Weaver

Associate Pastor

Malynde has a love to hear peoples’ journey with God throughout their lifetime. Her heart is to help encourage and further people along that journey. After having been in education for 27 years, she now works at Celebration as Associate Pastor, including adult education, pastoral care and assimilation. She has two boys. Her other passions are: any sport her kids are playing, teaching, reading, cooking, and exercising.


Linda Boushelle


Linda is the ringmaster for all things at Celebration Church. When not being beckoned by the Pastor, Linda dreams about riding off into the sunset in a Jaguar XKR supercharged, convertible.


Dayna Smith

Preschool Minister & Weekday Preschool Director

Dayna has been a part of Celebration Church since it began in 1997. She has always loved children. She left her job as a special education teacher to come to work as Director of Celebration Academy, which she opened in 2003. She uses her vast experience in public education to plan, organize, and implement the day-to-day curriculum at Celebration Academy. Dayna’s passion for Celebration Academy carries over to her role as the Preschool Minister at Celebration Church. What brings Dayna the most joy is being a recipient of the sweet smiles, friendly hellos, and warm hugs of the children.


Jolie Sims

Children's Minister

Jolie is Celebration’s Children’s Minister. She and her husband, Keifer, live here in Hoschton and have two elementary aged children whom they are crazy about! A proud Georgia Bulldawg, Jolie graduated from the University of Georgia in 1997. Having volunteered in our children’s area for many years, Jolie left the corporate world behind after 16 years to pursue her heart and a calling into Children’s Ministry – and she’s never looked back. Through loving relationships with our children and families, she strives to provide a place where our children can build a solid foundation of faith as they grow their relationships with Christ, all while having a blast! She can usually be found on Sundays and Wednesdays surrounded by kids with a huge smile on her face.


Ryan Nelson

Student Minister

Ryan grew up outside of Denver, CO. After graduating high school, he went to school in Chicago, IL at North Park University. Upon completing his degree in Youth Ministry and Biblical Studies in 2008, he moved to Georgia and started working in Youth Ministry at a church in Duluth, GA. Ryan and his wife Brittany married in 2013 and do not have any children yet. They enjoy having a night in and watching some of their favorite TV shows like The Amazing Race, Survivor, or the Goldberg’s or their favorite football teams the Auburn Tigers and the Denver Broncos. In December of 2014, Ryan completed his Masters of Divinity at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has a heart and passion for Student Ministry and enjoys helping students grow deeper in their faith in God.


Valerie Rivenbark


Valerie has a heart for helping others and a passion for sharing God’s love with others. Whether it be in our community or in another country, Valerie loves being “on mission” and encouraging others to do the same. She grew up in the metro area, graduated from UGA with a business degree and has held several roles in both the corporate world and education prior to coming on board here at Celebration. Valerie lives in Hoschton with her husband, Will, and their two boys and can usually be found at the ball field. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and reading.


Kelly Fons


Kelly grew up in Dublin, Ohio and moved to the Atlanta area after getting married in 2003. Together she and her husband, Greg, have 2 boys, a dog, a cat, a bearded dragon named Abe and several fish. Kelly worked in the hospital ICU as a Respiratory Therapist prior to having kids. She is enjoying the change of ministry God has brought her in the Communications role at the church. Some of her responsibilities include managing the website, the app and social media. Kelly also enjoys writing, cooking/baking and following her faith journey of raising children.

Alan Bunn

Alan is a Columbus, GA native and graduated from UGA where he was a piano major, played tuba in the Redcoat Band, and sang in the Men’s Glee Club. He currently teaches chorus at West Jackson Middle and Jackson County High schools.

When he isn’t leading the traditional worship at Celebration Church, he is either reading, working in the yard, or traveling to new and interesting places with his wife, Laurie, and their daughter, Emily.

He believes that everyone has a song to sing and that praising God through song is something we can all do!

Zac Martin

Zac has a passion for music and a heart for worship. In addition to leading Celebration’s contemporary worship service, he spends his days working as a software developer and his nights serenading those in need of a song. Zac has a wife, two daughters, a shelter dog, and a paradoxical love of both nature and technology. In his spare time, he enjoys reading science fiction, binge-watching streaming television, and talking about things that happened in the ’90s.
