The New York mission trip (for current 8th grade - 12 grade students) will be hosted by an organization
called City Service Mission or CSM (www.csm.org). This will be our 2nd year teaming up with CSM, who
have been leading youth group mission trips in the inner-city all over the country since 1988. Their mission
statement says they exist to provide an effective urban ministry experience that transforms lives, influences
churches, and communities and honors Christ.
While ministering in New York, we’ll be working with organizations like Salt and Sea Missions, which is a
ministry in the Coney Island neighborhood. Salt and Sea provides worship services, food pantries, and a
hot meal program to those who are in need. We will also get an opportunity to serve with God’s Love We
Deliver. God’s Love We Deliver is an organization which delivers meals to those who have life-threatening
illnesses. Or we may partner with New York City Relief, serving soup out of food trucks to homeless
people. These are just a few examples of possible ministry sites we’ll be working with while we are in New
York. Throughout the week, our team will gain a clear understanding of homelessness, as well as other
issues which many residents of the city face. Students will come away with an understanding of how to
help both in New York City as well as back at home.
